If you have been considering making some cornhole boards, here are some easy instructions to follow. As long as you can get the correct dimensions, making a custom cornhole set is never easier. The below plans use the standard cornhole board dimension.
Tools and Supplies Needed
1 ½" plywood sheet - 4 feet by 8 feet
3 2" x 4" boards X 8 feet long
1 box of deck screws
Drill
Jig saw
Tape Measure
Cicular Saw
Sandpaper
When it comes to the cornhole board dimensions, the first step is to cut the plywood into four pieces of 2x4. Use one of those pieces and cut it into 4 sections of 11 1/2' by 2 feet.
Next take one of the 2x4x8 board dimensions and cut them into 4 equal lengths. These smaller pieces are going to be the riser boards to tilt cornhole sets for play.
Once you have the riser board dimensions, the next step is to take the other 3x11x1/2 inch boards and attach them to the longer sides of the cornhole platform using desk screws. You want to make sure you leave a half inch gap at the end in which will be the top of the cornhole boards.
Use the tape measure to measure the rail boards and cut the rest of the 2 x 4 boards to match the exact same dimensions. Take those cornhole board pieces and attach them with the desk screws.
You should now have a clear idea of what the cornhole board dimensions are. Set the platform of the boards upright so you can find the area where to position the holes. Use the end that doesn't have the rails and measure 9 inches from the top and 12 inches from each side. This is going to be the dead center on where the hole begins. Use a compass and draw a 3 inch circumference giving you the dimensions of the hole. Use the circular saw to cut the hole. Use the sandpaper to smooth out the surface.
Take the 11 ½ inch by 2 inch boards and attach them above the cornhole. They should fit in snug to the half inch gap you left in the dimensions of the boards. Deck screws will do the job.
