How To Play the Game

However before one can start to play, it is essential that you have the proper equipment and supplies.
Cornhole Equipment
1. The first requirement to bag toss to have a set of cornhole game bags. We always recommend spending that few extra dollars to get a quality set so you avoid your bags ripping and tearing after only a couple uses. The most common fabric for a set of bags is duck cloth. Duck cloth is a very reliable material and can help break down the kernal corn. After several rounds of corn toss, you will notice how your bags will start to have corn dust coming through them making them more prone to slide on the boards. Once this starts to happen, your game will start to improve as you will have more of a feel every time you throw.
Along with duck cloth, also make sure your bags are measuruing around 6X6 inches and weigh about a pound. As the kernal corn starts to break down, expect your cornhole bags to be between 14-16 ounces. Choosing colors are also important. Even though you may like dark blue and black, this could make it harder to tell who's bags are who's and take longer to tally scores. You should always have two seperate colors that are quite different so it makes score the game much easier. We recommend when it comes to choosing bags, to go with colors that compliment the boards and also show off your sports team. If you would like to really customize them, here is a guide on how to make cornhole bags.
The whole objective to using bags are to toss them at boards for points. You essentially want to get the beanbags into the hole cut out within the opposing cornhole boards, though just landing on them will score you points. The first team to successfully acquire 21 points wins the game. For this reason it is important to you really practice your toss. There are a few technique you can master to improve your game. For starters who are just learning how to play cornhole, we recommend learning the "flat toss". Keep the bean bags flat in your palm when throwing. This make sure the kernel corn stays evenly distributed and has the least chance of going wayward. Once you can confidantly throw the flat toss, try the "sling toss" which is very similar to the flat toss but adds a flipping motion to it. This will get your more distance or higher elevation to control where you want the bags to land. In the end you will probably make your own style of throwing bags, but it never hurts to learn the basics first.
2. Cornhole Boards - A quality cornhole game set is also vital when it comes to the equipment needed to play the game. We always recommend going with a more customized option like a pyramid set or striped board set, because it will add to the fun and you will be having your set for many years. ACA regulation requires cornhole board dimensions to be 4X2'. We hope you are muscular as you could be looking at 30lbs a board!
